Description

Wound healing has gotten a lot of attention in recent years. Immunological diseases, such as diabetes, cause complications that can lead to death. There are few wound care medications and formulations available. In this study, Grewia asiatica linn. leaves extract was tested for wound healing activities in a series of in vitro and in vivo studies. This includes phytochemical screening to determine the presence of desirable phytochemicals (flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and so on) found in G.asiatica leaf extracts for wound healing properties. Because the Ethyl acetate extract contained the most desirable phytochemicals, it was further tested in vitro and in vivo using antioxidant and analgesic tests to determine the most potent extract for wound healing activities. The highly effective ethyl acetate extract was chosen and prepared for gel formulation. The ethyl acetate gel extract was also tested in vivo for detailed Excision and Incision wound models. When gel formulations (Ethyl acetate) were compared to the control group, significant differences in wound healing parameters were observed. Following successful treatment with Ethyl acetate extract gel, significant wound healing results were observed. Excision and incision models revealed the wound healing activity of both ethyl acetate extract gel and sericin gel, with **p0.05 significant values obtained in all wound healing methods. As a result in the near future those agents may direct herbal research in new directions.
