Description
Murraya koenigii is a sub-tropical tree in the family Rutaceae, native to Asia. It has three carbazole alkaloids mahanine, mahanimbicine and mahanimbine as one of the remarkable chemical classes related to the improvement of the healing process. Comparative study of Murraya koenigii leaf extract ointment with standard Megaheal gel on excision wound model in mice. Excision wound model in mice was used to verify the potential of methanolic extract ointment of leaf. The wound area were measured till 17 days and the percentage of wound healing was calculated. Then graphical representation of Mean of percentage (%) wound contraction in control, standard and test group was done. The treated group with the methanol extract ointment showed significant wound healing activity by increasing of formation of granulation tissue, synthesis of collagen, and rate of wound contraction as compared to the control animals. The data indicates that mice treated with the standard gel showed maximum wound healing activity followed by the test group treated with Murraya koenigii ointment (Significant effect) and control group.
